MAZARRON FC v CD ALBERCA
Kickoff 6.30pm SUNDAY 3rd MAY 2015
Isn't it strange how the fixture list throw up a sequence of matches at different stages of the season? Not long ago were playing the top three sides in quick succession now it's our direct competitors for a play off place who we are facing.
There are six sides who still have a realist chance of booking one of three remaining 'play-off' places, Mazarron FC being one the other are Esparragal, Juvenia, Los Alcazares, Espinardo, and our next opponents Alberca.
A couple of weeks of weeks ago we took on and thrashed Espinardo, next up for Mazarron from that group is Alberca at home which is quickly followed by Los Alcarzares away. The fixture list isn't making life easy for Mazarron FC as that's three of the possible five other contenders one after the other. But we can only play, and hopefully beat, the team that's in front of us.
CD ALBERCA (recent form)
Our old friends Alberca, who we have fought many a good game against in recent seasons, have not been having such a good time of it recently. In their last 4 games they drew against lowly Lumbreras, lost against the then bottom side Yeclano 5-1 and were beaten by play-off rivals Los Alcazares.
But last weekend they were at home against next to bottom club Sucina who were reduced to 10 men so a final score of Alberca 3 Sucina 0 comes as no surprise.
MAZARRON FC (recent form)
Meanwhile Mazarron FC were on their travels to Thader-Murcia where despite giving away two silly, silly goals the boys still went on to give the home side a footballing lesson and came away with a fine 2-4 win.
ALBERCA PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
In ANTONIO MIGUEL BLAYA PEREZ CD Alberca have a player who has scored 13 goals so far this season and FRANCISCO MANUEL HIDALGO PERALES has scored 8 but after these two the goals do not appear to be flowing for them, with Alberca conceded in more goals than they have scored.
LAST TIME WE MET
CD ALBERCA 1 MAZARRON FC 1 (13.12.2014)
Mazarron gave a much improved and battling performance against fourth placed CD Alberca and earned a deserved 1-1 draw.
Mazarron’s first attempt on goal came the 21st minute when Manu’s free kick was deflected for a corner. Monty’s flag kick was scrambled clear by Alberca with Mazarron appealing for a penalty for clear handball.
Chances then came for Tolo’s whose shot was saved by the keeper and Manu but his shot was turned round the post for a corner.
Alberca came more into the game and Conejo had to be alert in the Mazarron goal with two excellent saves.
Conejo was again in action in the early stages of the second half making two more good saves but it was Tolo was again Mazarron’s main threat up front and he had two good efforts saved, the second in the 65th minute when he swivelled to hit a right foot shot just wide. Tolo then hit a fierce drive which was scrambled around the post for a corner by the Alberca keeper.
Alberca took the lead after 79 minutes when Perez slipped inside Lorca before sliding the ball past Conejo. The lead was short lived as the irrepressible Tolo burst through the Alberca defence before firing home the equaliser for his tenth goal of the season. Manu was sent off for a second yellow card but Mazarron managed to hold out for the rest of the game.
