NEXT HOME GAME
MAZARRON FC v ESPINARDO ATLÉTICO
Kick off 6pm (18.00) Sunday 19th April 2015
Talk about a 6 pointer, this is a game that Mazarron FC must win if they are to consolidate their push for a playoff place this season as Espinardo are one of the three teams currently vying with Mazarron for that 6th and final playoff position.
Following last weekends successful trip north to Blanca, Mazarron FC return home to face Espinardo Atléico on Sunday.
Unfortunately I missed the away fixture at Espinardo in November but looking at the report of that game it was a case of Mazarron domination but somehow they contrived to lose the game. This is how it went.
ESPINARDO ATLETICO 2 MAZARRON FC 0 (30.11.2014)
Mazarron dropped out of the play-off positions with a 2-0 defeat away to Espinardo Atletico despite having 75% of possession in a game played on an artificial surface which barely confirmed to the minimum width regulations.
Due to absences, Mazarron had to play juvenile midfielder Andreo as a central defender alongside Dani with four other juveniles also on the substitutes bench.
The game was played in appalling weather conditions, the constant driving rain making life difficult for players and spectators alike. Liders shot wide after just two minutes and Mazarron then forced two corners both of which came to nothing.
Espinardo took the lead after 20 minutes when Dani misjudged the pace of a through ball allowing Alejandro to run on, round Conejo and place the ball into an empty net. Thereafter, it was all Mazarron with Tolo almost scoring on two occasions, once when he superbly rounded the last defender before seeing his shot smothered by the Espinardo keeper.
Monty’s free kick after 28 minutes was just too high and then, a minute later a superb free kick from Alfonso crashed against the bar before rebounding to Monty who volleyed over. Then Tolo unleashed a left foot shot from outside the penalty area which was touched around the post for a corner by the home keeper.
Mazarron continued to dominate in the early stages of the second half forcing numerous corners, all of which were headed clear by the strong Espinardo defence. Tolo was always in the thick of the action and once again came close when he volleyed Monty’s free kick only to see it rebound off a defender when goalbound.
Little was seen of Espinardo as an attacking force but their defence kept a tight rein on the Mazarron forwards with three men in attendance every time Tolo had the ball. The home team committed numerous fouls outside the penalty area but Mazarron were unable to convert any of the resulting free-licks although Lider’s left foot effort was headed off the line for a corner.
With five minutes to go the referee awarded a free kick to Espinardo on the right and Gonzalez rose unchallenged to place a firm header past Conejo to make the final score 2-0.
CURRENT FORM
Espinardo first. They were at home against bottom side Sucina last weekend with the result a real shocker, Sucina won 3-4 and Espinardo had 5 players booked as well, let's just hope that some were on 4 cards. Espinardo had 3 players suspended for the Sucina game, which could answer a few questions about the result.
Espinardo do conceded a few goals, 61 so far this season whilst scoring just 48. Their top scorer is ALBERTO FUENTES MARTINEZ with 16 goals (he was booked last weekend lets hope it's his 5th booking) but after him there doesn't appear to be many hot shots in the side.
Meanwhile Mazarron travelled to play Blanca TC2 and had a comfortable 1-2 win with the team playing well within themselves. New boy Pedro, who stepped up from the juveniles to do a cracking job as right back, cantered forward to convert a Tolo cross whist Dani powered in a Stalin corner. This is becoming a bit of a trademark goal from Dani, may it long continue.
CURRENT STATS
Following last weekends results this is how the two teams stand:
6th MAZARRON FC P 29 W 14 D 5 L 10 GF 51 GA 40 Points 47
9th ESPINARDO ATLÉTICO P 29 W 13 D 3 L 13 GF 48 GA 61 Points 42
Mazarron FC are 4 points clear in the final playoff position, their closes rivals for that final playoff spot is now Los Alcazares who we play in the penultimate game of the regular season.
SUSPENSIONS/SANCTIONS
We should be OK regarding players missing through suspension but I will await the federation publishing then on Thursday evening.
PLAYOFFS
Not jumping the gun or counting my chickens before they hatch but I have asked Jose to speak to the federation to confirm the dates and format of this seasons playoffs, I await his reply.
We have 5 games left, 3 at home and 2 away. Three of the games are against sides who are challenging for a play off slot, Espinardo & Alberca at home and Los Alcazares away.
Mazarron FC need maximum support in these final games to get us over the line.

Match report compiled by Allan Jones
Mazarron F C v Espinardo Atletico. Sunday 19th April 2015
Well here we are for a further home game and after last week even our pitch looks better (but not a lot) very green and bobbly. The list of players on view looks the strongest for some time but only time would tell.
Tolo starts the action with one of his mazy dribbles eventually losing the ball. The crowd is quiet until the drummer arrives and the Tolo fan club is seated.
The Mazarron goalkeeper is soon in action with a good punch out for a corner and also a second corner going out for a goal kick. In the early stages of the game neither side has the upper hand and the log ball is prevalent. In the 15th minute however the game changes when a cross by Tolo is swept into the net by Alfonso.
Score 1--0
Only a minute later the score is doubled when a further cross by Tolo is hit into the net again by Alfonso.
Score 2--0.
Although now 2--0 up Espinardo are still giving making life difficult for Mazarron and Carrasco is doing some impressive work in goal. Alfonso is worrying the away side and the first booking of the game is made following a foul on him.
In the 33rd minute a cross by Liders allows Alfonso to score his hat-trick with another fine shot.
Score 3--0
This is the first hat-trick by a Mazarron player since one by Tolo many weeks earlier and at this moment Man of the Match seems an easy decision.
Mazarron start to play more of a passing game now with Tolo leading the line well. The players go in for half-time with The Los Amigos looking forward to their refreshments.
Half -Time 3--0.
For the second half Enrique is replaced by Manu. Mazarron are soon on the attack again and a further shot by Alfonso hits the bar. In the 55th minute a free-kick for a foul on Stalin taken by Tolo hits the wall and he then fires over. Stalin was then replaced by Diego
There now seems no way of stopping Alfonso and following a foul on him he gets up to take the free-kick himself. The goalkeeper fumbles his shot and Alfonso has his fourth goal of the gameand the crowd go wild.
Score 4---0
Only one minute later Mazarron go 5 up when a cross by Tolo is volleyed into the net by Manu.
Score 5--0
On the 68th minute Javi decided to withdraw Alfonso and he goes off to rapturous applause to be replaced by Antonio Clares who seems to have supporters of his own in the main stand. Next on is Juanillo for Andreo and the attacks continue with Espinarda now losing heart. The 6th goal arrives when Manu goes on a run and fires past a very disconsulate keeper.
Score 6--0
A quarter of an hour from the end of the game Tolo gets his name on the score sheet following another cross and the agony for Espinarda continues.
Score 7--0.
Mazarron have a few more attacks but that is the end of the scoring from Mazarron but we are all happy in Los Amigos.
Final Score 7---0.
Team. Carrasco Lorca Dani Andreo Juan Andreo Enrique Alfonso Lider Tolo Stalin Mateo.
Subs. Diego Manu Juanillo Antonio Clares Chema Conejo.
Man of the Match Alfonso .
