NEXT HOME GAME
MAZARRON FC v CD JUVENIA
Kickoff 5pm SUNDAY 22nd February 2015
So the season marches on with Mazarron FC next opponents being CD Juvenia. Juvenia are a bit of a bogey side for Mazarron often coming back to take the points after we had taken a lead but earlier this season the boot was on the other foot and it was Mazarrons turn to win after going behind and with just 9 men! Here is the story of what happened in October of last year when we visited Juvenia at their ground in Pozo Estrecho:
Both sides spent the first 10 minutes trying to get into positions where they could attempt a shot on goal, but both sides were guilty of wayward shooting.
Mid-way through the first half there was a flurry of yellow cards for both Juvenia and Mazarron; the significant one as far as Mazarron was concerned came in the 32 minute when Lorca was booked for a foul on the edge of the Mazarron penalty area.
The one good bit of team work from Mazarron came in the 38th minute when a break down the right wing utilising 3 different Mazarron players found Tolo in a good position, but just that little bit too much of an angle to get a good shot away, and the ball ended up in the side netting.
HALF-TIME 0-0
The second half went very much as the first had done. Both sides were woefully short of ideas as to how to break down the opposition defence, and when they did get near the opposing penalty area any shots were usually well wide.
In the 52nd minute Diego missed what was the best chance of the match so far to score – but instead managed to balloon the ball over the bar.
However, in the 65th minute after a Juvenia attack was halted by a foul some 27 yards out, the resultant free kick went straight into the Mazarron goal. The ball bypassed the Mazarron wall and Conjeo didn’t even move before the ball was nestled in the back of the Mazarron net. 1-0
On the next Mazarron attack there was a coming together of a defender and Chema and he decided that a free kick or even a penalty kick might come Mazarron’s way if he went to ground – he duly did!
The referee was having none of it, Chema remonstrated with the linesman in a somewhat forthright manner. The linesman duly brought the referee’s attention to the incident, and Chema was booked for the second time in as many minutes – and followed the all too familiar route for an early bath.
If that wasn’t bad enough a further 4 minutes had elapsed before Juan Lorca, defending another Juvenia attack, committed a foul on the left winger and was booked for a second time and off he trudged.
Now down to 9 men Mazarron started to find each other when attacking, it was all Mazarron from now on. And in the 85th minute came the goal that Mazarron’s determination and spirit deserved. Another free kick was placed into the Juvenia penalty area and after a little pin-ball Diego was there to thump it home. 1-1
The young juvenile Andreo then had a further good shot at goal, and was well saved by the Juvenia goal minder. Then in the 89th minute came the best cross of the match from Mateo who ran down the right wing bye-line and crossed a beautiful ball into the Juvenia area to find Diego on the end – and he didn’t miss! 1-2
Five minutes of added time was indicated by the referee, but with a couple of extra substitutions to eat up some time Mazarron were able to hold onto their win. FULL TIME 1-2
What a game and what a come back by the 9 men of Mazarron FC
LAST WEEKEND
Mazarron FC made their way north to face Pliego and came away with a disappointing 2-0 defeat despite hitting the post and bar. They were undone by two dead ball situations, a corner and a free kick and the Pliego keeper who was in inspired form. Meanwhile Juvenia were at home facing bottom side AD Sucina with the inevitable score line of 3-0.
CURRENT STANDINGS
Mazarron FC still sit in the dizzy heights of 5th place in the league with at least the play off's beckoning but close on their heels are Sunday's visitors in 6th place only 4 points behind. So a bit of a six pointer.
5th MAZARRON FC P 23 W 12 D 4 L 7 GF 44 GA 27 Points 40 6th CD JUVENIA P 23 W 10 D 6 L 7 GF 41 GA 33 Points 36
PLAYERS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Juvenia have three players who are scoring regularly and they are
JAVIER ZAPATA RIVERA with 9 goals LUIS MIGUEL JUSTICIA TOVAR with 7 and MAXIMINO GOMEZ MARTINEZ who has slotted in 6 goal this season. So unlike Mazarron they don't rely on one main striking threat, but having said that what a threat, Tolo is miles ahead of the league top scorers with 24 goals so far.
SUSPENSIONS AND SANCTIONS.
Details of who will be missing from both sides will be published when made available by the federation, usually on Thursday night.

SUSPENSIONS/SANCTIONS
Again Mazarron FC have no suspensions or sanctions (what good boys we have)
Juvenia will be missing ALEJANDRO VALLECILLOS QUIJADA and as far as I can see he doesn't have any goal against his name. Defender, goal keeper or maybe a rubbish striker?

FINAL SCORE
MAZARRON FC 1 v CD JUVENIA 1
Juvenia came for a draw and a draw is what they got, via a late, late penalty.
This was a very scrappy game with the away team just happy to clear their lines but Mazarron fell straight into their game plan and spurred a number of clear cut chances.
Tolo score with a delightful lob but was booked late on meaning that he will miss one game due to accumulation of 5 yellow cards.
The ref was a bit card happy booking 5 Mazarron players, and 6 Juvenia players including a double = red card, getting ready for Easter? He must have raised a bob or two for his Party.
Juvenia's goal came following a corner in the dying embers of the game when one of their players was fouled right on the edge of the box.
It was 2 points lost as opposed to one gained but as the teams surrounding Mazarron in the league all seemed to have tripped up and dropped points, not to much damage done.

Seems like retribution for us stealing the points at their place!

Report compiled by Allan Jones
Mazarron F C V C D Juvenia.
Sunday 22nd February 2015.
It was a bright sunny day at the ground with a few clouds and a light wind to greet us as we settled down for the first half. Juvenia were soon on the attack and Mazarron had an early scare when a good move on goal was fortunately followed by a weak shot that did not trouble our goal keeper.
The game was fairly even with neither side gaining supremacy and both being awarded several free kicks which did not come to anything.
Mazarron then had a better spell of attacking play when Tolo earned two freekicks in quick succession the second of which earned a Juvenia player a booking. Both kicks were taken by Toni the 1st well held by the goal keeper and the second went out for a corner.
As the second half was coming near it was becoming apparent that Juvenia were passing the ball that little bit better but not really creating more chances fortunately. Shortly before half-time Tolo received a booking which could prove crucial as his total is mounting and a suspension could be very soon.
Half -Time 0---0
For the start of the second half Mazarron took of Antonio and brought on Stalin. The game resumed in much the same way as before with neither side gaining the upper hand. A little bit of entertainment was provided however when Tolo attempted a bicycle kick on goal which was appreciatd by the supporters. Lorca received his usual second half injury and was carried off but was soon back. Manu was then substituted for Stevens.
Suddenly the game changed and Tolo was there again when following a run he lobbed the goalkeeper to open the score for Mazarron.
Score 1---0.
This resulted in the Juvenia no 5 being sent of for dissent and a few wild tackle starting to arrive. Chema then came on for Lorca and Juvenia made several changes also.
Playing now against ten men allowed Mazarron more time on the ball but they could still not get the elusive second goal and this was to prove their downfall.
Four minutes from the end of normal time Chema brought down a Juvenia player in the box and a penalty was awarded. The penalty was very well taken and the score became:
1--1.
Juvenia held on for the rest of the match.
Final Score 1---1.
Team. Conejo Lorca Dani Andreo Enrique Alfonso Tolo Manu Antonio Toni Mateo
Subs. Pablo Stalin Stevens Juanilo Chema Martin.
Man of the Match Mateo.
