NEXT AWAY GAME
AD PLIEGO v MAZARRON FC
Saturday 14th February or Sunday 15th February 2015
I'll post times and dates when I get them.
Next weekend Mazarron FC are back on the road and this time to a ground that I have never been to before, the home ground of AD Pliego.
Pliego is situated between Alhama and Mula and the distance is some 45KM from Camposol but because of the twisting roads as you travel through the gorgeous mountainous countryside itwill take about 50 minutes.
To get there travel to Alhama and in the town centre join the C3315 which is sign posted for Pliego and it will take you all the way to the ground. The name of the ground is the Municipal De Pliego and is situated on Av. Alhama. It is on your left as you enter the small village of Pliego. The co ordinates for the ground is 37° 59' 10" N, 01° 30' 15" W.
Details of the away coach will be posted as soon as they are known.
Pliego play on an artificial surface in this modern municipal sports facility but not having been there before I don't known about the canteen/toilet facilities or seating at the ground. From the satellite view I cannot see any seating but I also don't know when that ariel shot was taken so thing could well have changed since it was done.
Pliego play in a yellow shirt with black shorts so we should be in RED for this game.
Pliego gained promotion from the segunda division by finishing 4th last season and so far they are holding a lower mid table position currently in 12th place.
They visited Mazarron in early October and here is what happened:-
MAZARRON FC 2 A.D.PLIEGO 2 (12.10.2014)
For the first 25 minutes or so with both sides trying to find a way through, with Mazarron starting to penetrate the Pliego defence with long, raking passes for Tolo to run onto.
In the 27th minute a block on the Mazarron goal-line lead to Pliego’s second corner of the match.
The corner came across and was headed out by the Mazarron defence, but it fell to the Visitor’s number 21 whose shot looped over the Mazarron goal minder and into the corner of the net. 0-1
Further disaster was to strike 2 minutes later when a Pliego attack down the left wing reached the by-line then was crossed low across the Mazarron goal area for it to reach an unmarked Pliego player who calmly pushed it into the net. 0-2
Alfonso was booked in the 44th minute after some ‘handbags at dawn’ in the Mazarron penalty area and moments later he received a second cards for arguing with the ref over where and when a free kick should be taken from which led to Alfonso trooping off the pitch. Words were obviously spoken at half time by Javi, the Mazarron coach, as after they came out for start of the second half Mazarron had their tails up!
Just a few seconds after the restart Mazarron attacked and during the melee in the Pliego penalty area the referee pointed to the penalty spot after a foul and it was Tolo who stepped up and struck the penalty to the left of the Pliego goalkeeper and into the net. 1-2
One minute later on the next Mazarron attack, we were awarded another penalty when Tolo was fouled in the penalty area. The referee initially gave a free kick on the edge of the penalty area – only for the linesman to indicate that the foul was inside the box and so the referee then changed his decision and pointed to the penalty spot. Up stepped Tolo for his second penalty in as many minutes and this time put it to the right of the Pliego goalkeeper and into the net. 2-2
There was yet another penalty appeal only a further two minutes later in Mazarron’s next attack, where a Pliego defender clearly handled the ball – but the referee decided to waved play-on. This was the clearest ‘penalty’ of the three! No bottle ref!
The rest of the half saw 10-man Mazarron clearly looking to win the match, with Pliego on the back foot for a lot of the time. Full-Time: 2-2
LAST GAMES
Last weekend Pliego were away at Sucina were the final score was a 1-2 for the visitors. Meanwhile Mazarron FC faced Fortuna at home with the home team storming to a 6-0 win
CURRENT STATS:
4th MAZARRON FC P 22 W 12 D 4 L 6 GF 42 GA 25 Points 40
12th AD PLIEGO P 22 W 6 D 6 L 10 GF 35 GA 45 Points 24
TOP MARKSMEN
Mazarrons leading scorer is, of course, Tolo with 24 goals, the leagues top scorer by miles. Whilst Pliego have couple of players who know where the net is they are IVAN PEREZ FUENTES with 10 goals and DANIEL ESCRIBANO MARTINEZ with 9, but after those two they have little else in the tank.
SANCTION/SUSPENSIONS
Pliego will be without MARTINEZ ORTIN PEDRO JOSE currently serving a 4 match ban, no goals are recorded against his name and details of other sanctionu and suspensions will be posted when available.
