MAZARRON FC v FORTUNA EDECO
5pm (17.00) Sunday 8th February 2015
Mazarron FC return home for this fixture against lowly placed Fortuna hoping to "do the double" over them.
It was in early October that Mazarron visited Fortuna and came away with a 0-1 win and here is a brief recap of what happened:
Enrique’s headed goal in the 80th minute gave Mazarron a hard earned victory.
Despite the game kicking off five minutes late following a torrential downpour and thunderstorm Mazarron could have taken the lead after seven minutes when Alfonso’s free kick found Tolo who could only direct his header just wide of the far post. And really that was that for a disappointing first half.
In the second half a left foot drive from Tolo was just wide after 56 minutes and then Tolo played in Chema whose shot was just blocked by the onrushing Fortuna keeper.
After 70 minutes a Diego fierce volley sailed just over the bar but Mazarron’s pressure paid off after 80 minutes when Liders’ left wing corner was headed back across goal by Dani and turned in at the far post by Enrique. The win moved Mazarron up to fourth in the league table.
CURRENT FORM
Last weekend Mazarron travelled to the dirt tip known as the Fuente Alamo ground and came away with a 2-1 defeat in a howling gail. This result means that Mazarron FC still sit in 4th place in the league handily placed for the play offs or even a push for automatic promotion.
Meanwhile Furtuna were at home against bottom side Sucina with the final score being Fortuna 1 Sucina 2
Fortuna are finding promotion to this division a hard task despite being able to call upon players from the senior Fortuna side which plays in the Tercera division and they will need to be careful if they are to prevent immediate relegation and a return to the Segunda division after being promoted last season, finishing 3rd.
Their top scorer is Oscar Sanchez Garcia with a remarkable 11 goals but after him not many of his team mates are contributing.
CURRENT STATS:
4th MAZARRON FC P 21 W 11 D 4 L 6 GF 38 GA 25 Points 37
15th FORTUNA EDECO P 21 W 4 D 3 L 14 GF 28 GA 51 Points 15
