The first game between the two sides took place in late September in Mazarron and that game went something like this:
Mazarron FC 2 Fuente Alamo 2
For the second week running Mazarron FC unnecessarily threw away points in injury time and this time it was also the chance to go joint top.
On 17 minutes Mazarron to took the lead with a combination of Chema and Cristian producing the goods. Chema received the ball on the flicked a cross over to Cristian who brought the ball down, before burying the ball into the net.
Mazarron FC 1 Fuente Alamao 0
At this stage it was all Mazarron, But in the 39th minute Fuente were awarded a very iffy penalty decision. The penalty was taken and dispatched bringing the scores level.
Mazarron FC 1 Fuente Alamo 1
The second half continued in the same vein as the first half with Mazarron applying pressure and Fuente Alamo unable to make anything of any chances that they created.
Fuente Alamo were made when following a corner and a bit of head tennis it was Diego who got the final and decisive touch to force the ball over the line.
Mazarron FC 2 Fuente Alamo 1
The match burst into life when Liders burst through the Fuente defence and was prevented from having a shot on goal when a blatant hand ball prevented the chance.
Mazarron were now playing on the break and it was from one of these breakaways that Mazarron nearly doubled their lead. Cristian bursting out his now defensive role he found Diego but the away goal minder just managed to clear the danger at the last second.
It was in the 3rd minute of extra time disaster struck Mazarron and their excellent goal keeper, Conejo, in particular. A long punt up field by the Fuente defence was easily being covered by Juan Lorca, who hadn't put a foot wrong all day, only to see his goal keeper running out of his area to clear the same ball. Conejo got to the ball first and kicked it straight to a Fuente striker who calmly passed the ball sideways to his partner who side footed the ball into an empty net. Disaster.
FULL TIME Mazarron FC 2 Fuente Alamo 2
A point but it felt like a defeat.
Last weekend we were at home to second placed Beniajan with the fantastic result being a victory for Mazarron FC 3-0 This result consolidates Mazarron into 4th place.
Meanwhile Fuente were away at bottom side Sucina who Mazarron had thumped 4-0 the previous week. That game finished up an amazing Sucina 7 Fuente Alamo 1 A result which keeps Fuente into 15th place.
CURRENT STATS:
4th MAZARRON FC P 20 W 11 D 4 L 5 GF 38 GA 23 Points 37
15th. FUENTE ALAMO P 20 W 3 D 6 L 11 GF 20 GA 38 Points 15
FUENTE ALAMO'S STADIUM.
Fuente Alamo play their home games at the Cuatro Vientos stadium (loose use of the word stadium here, it's a tip) it is situated on the far side of the village as you travel from Camposol, it's one of the last buildings before you leave the town. The last time that I was there there was a small canteen, a rickety bit of a stand and an earth pitch, which is a disgrace at this level of football. I only hope that it has improved since our last visit here but I'm not holding my breath.
The coordinates for the ground are 37° 43' 22" N, 01° 09' 30" W for the independent traveller and there will be an away coach provided as usual by Los amigos, details at a later date.
Fuente Alamo play in a pale blue shirt, a la Manchester City, so we should be in RED.
