NEXT GAME
Fortuna Edeco v Mazarron FC
Scheduled for Sunday 5th October 2014
**BE AWARE THAT FURTUNA PLAYED THEIR FIRST HOME GAME ON A FRIDAY NIGHT AND THE SECOND HOME GAME ON A SATURDAY**
For our next away game we travel North to Fortuna to play against a team that, personally, I have never seen Mazarron FC play.
Last season Fortuna finished 3rd in the Segunda automatica and were promoted as a right, unlike a large number of teams in that league who were elevated to the Primera autonomica by default due to lack of teams registering with the federation.
Personally I feel that promoting teams who do not qualify by right by finishing in the top 2 or 3 somewhat devalues our league and that they should earn the right to move up a league, but hey ho!
Fortunas start to this season, following promotion, has been steady if not spectacular and they sit in 7th place in the table at the moment one place below Mazarron FC but on the same points.
Last weekend Fortuna were away at Sucina where they beat 10 man Sucina 1-4
They have, in OSCAR SANCHEZ GARCIA, a player who knows where the back of the net is having scored more than half the goals accumulated by Fortuna but after him there is no other obvious threat.
But it must be added that 3 of OSCARS goals did come against lowly Los Alcazares another one of these side promoted by default from the Segunda autonomica and who are now finding life more difficult in this higher division and another hat trick against Sucina making him the new leagues top scorer.
OSCAR needs to try and keep his scoring record going as Fortuna are one of these side who appear to concede goals as easily as he scores them, so fertile grounds for our own goal machine, TOLO.
CURRENT STATS
6th MAZARRON FC P 4 W 2 D 1 L 1 GF 9 GA 4 Points 7
7th FORTUNA EDECO P 4 W 2 D 1 L 1 GF 10 GA 6 Points 7
Fortuna play in a RED home shirt so we should be wearing our changed BLUE colours this weekend.
At this moment we are still awaiting details of any sanctions or suspensions resulting from the weekends game but I will post the on the Mazarron FC forum as soon as I get them.
Fortuna play in an excellent small stadium facility, EL SALADAR, just outside of the town which has two half size pitches and a full sized ground. All surfaces are of the 3G artificial variety and one only hope that they will be a darn site better than the heap we had to play on our last away trip to Beniajan. Maybe they will have white footballs and flood lights that actually allow you to see the game as it gets dark.
The ground has seating on both sides of the pitch, modern toilet facilities and a canteen for refreshments.
GETTING THERE
Details of the away coach will be circulated when they are available and will be posted on the Mazarron FC forum and Los Amigos Facebook page.
The journey to the stadium, some 77KM away, will take just short of an hour and should be a pleasant trip out.
For independent travellers the co ordinates for the ground are 38° 10' 55" N, 01° 06' 48" W and prior to the journey you can view the ground via Google maps including a 'street view' using these co ordinates.
The route is very simple, join the A7 at Alhama, stay on this motorway travelling past Murcia.
Approximately 5 KM past the Real Murcia football stadium and the Condomina shopping center.
Take the RM 423 at junction 755 (this junction number may have changed due to renumbering of the A7).
Follow the RM 423 travelling north for about 10 KM until you reach a traffic island.
Stay on the RM 423 for a further 10KM. You will pass under an elevated traffic island after this and about another 2 KM down that road take the third turning on your left and the ground is in front of you. There is a large car park situated just outside of the ground.
