Mazarron FC 2 Fuente Alamo 2
MAZARRON FC THROW IT AWAY FOR THE SECOND WEEK RUNNINGFor the second week running Mazarron FC unnecassarly threw away points in injury time and this time it was also the chance to go joint top.
The game started with the devastating news that one of the brightest prospects Mazarron have had in their team, Cristian, was leaving to ply his trade in Paris, but he promised to score in his final game and he lived up to his pledge and that he would be back in April.
This game was played in warm sunshine in front of a good crowd who had high hopes of a game where 3 points were up for grabs.
From the kick off Fuente Alamo tried a number of speculative long range shots which were easily dealt with and if this was the best that they could do, well come on down.
It was in the 10th minute that Mazarron started to probe the away teams goal with Chema, who would have an excellent game, crossing to Cristian in the box who was denied by a last minute interception.
But it wouldn't take long for Mazarron to take the lead, in fact it was just 7 minutes later that the same combination of Chema and Cristian that produce the goods. Chema received the ball on the left wing easily beating the aways team right back and flicked a cross over to Cristian who brought the ball down, controlled it, spinning on the spot and burying the ball into the net. Great goal.

Shortly afterwards Mazarron almost doubled their lead when Chema burst through the center only to be hauled down on the edge of the box by the last defender, the crowd was very disappointed that he only received a yellow card. Up steps Captain Alfonso who hammer the ball passed the defensive wall only to see it rebound off the foot of the post.
The next action involved a move from the right again from a dead ball situation, again Alfonso was the deliverer in chief and the recipient was Cristian, who was determined to impress on his final outing with Mazarron, the ball cleared the defender aligned in front of the ball straight to Cristian who flashed the ball inches wide of the left hand post.
Again following a Mazarron attack resulting in a corner it was Chemas turn to excel when he rose above three defender only to see his header miss to the right of the goal, just.
At this stage it was all Mazarron and when Chema intercepted a Fuente Alamo defensive clearance, he bore down on goal and it took a last ditch tackle to deny him a shooting chance.
In a rare attack Fuente Alamo's front line found themselves 3 on 2 with a good chance to equalise the score but as a striker was about to pull the trigger Chema took the ball away from him and cleared the danger.
In the 39th minute Lady luck then took a hand in the shape of a very iffy penalty award. A coming together of two opposing players on the edge of Mazarrons penalty area which to the attending crowd seemed a 50/50 tackle was deemed as a foul and a penalty was awarded to Fuente Alamo. The penalty was taken and dispatched bringing the scores level.

HALF TIME
The second half started with Mazarron substituting the leagues top score, Tolo and Damien with Andreo and Diego the latter playing his first game following being injured in a pre season match. Diego is a striker who has been talked about a lot within the club as having a great amount of potential.
The game continued in the same vein as the first half with Mazarron applying pressure and Fuente Alamo unable to make anything of any chances that they created, they sorely need a finisher as they let many a chance go begging.
Fuente Alamo were made to pay for their ineptitude in front of goal in the 16th minute of the second half when following a corner and a bit of head tennis it was Diego who got the final and decisive touch to force the ball over the line. Diego had arrived.

Shortly afterwards Chema, who had been creating chance after chance was substituted being replaced by Juanillo and in all honesty the match stagnated somewhat for the next period of the game.
The match burst into life again when Lider burst through the Fuente defence and was prevented from having a shot on goal when a blatant hand ball prevented the chance. From the free kick Juanillo dove full length in an attempt to head the ball home but just failed to make a connection.
Fuente Alamo were now coming more and more into the game as Mazarron defended deeper and deeper and at one stage the ball wizzed around the home teams goal mouth like a pin ball with the ball eventually being cleared. Mazarron were now playing on the break and it was from one of these break aways that Mazarron nearly double their lead. Cristian bursting out his now defensive role he found Diego but the away goal minder just managed to clear the danger at the last second.
Following a bad foul Lider left the field of play being replaced by Martin.
As full time arrived a Fuente Alamo striker buried a free kick into the side netting of Mazarrons goal, a real let off.
Shortlt afterwards the ref held up his hand showing 5 minutes of extra time, now where did he get those 5 minutes from? Shortly afterwards Cristian left the feild of play to a standing ovation being replaced by Javi.
And it was in the 3rd minute of extra time disaster struck Mazarron and their excellent goal keeper, Conejo, in particular.
A long punt up field by the Fuente defence was easily being covered by Juan Lorca, who hadn't put a foot wrong all day, only to see his goal keeper running out of his area to clear the same ball. Conejo got to the ball first and kicked it straight to a Fuente striker who calmly passed the ball sideways to his partner who side footed the ball into an empty net. Disaster.

The whistle for full time was blown almost as Mazarron restarted the game and we looked across to see a distraught Conejo sitting in his goal mouth devastated with what he had done.
