On Saturday the 20th September just give a thought to Mr Clough on the tenth anniversary of his death and as you do have a read of just some of his many quotes below, there were many, many more.
The best manager England never had. RIP
“When I go, God’s going to have to give up his favourite chair.”
“I wouldn’t say I was the best manager in the business…but I was in the top one.” “I regret telling the entire world and his dog how good a manager I was. I knew I was the best but I should have said nowt and kept the pressure off ‘cos they’d have worked it out for themselves.”
“His wife can’t sing and his barber can’t cut hair.” (On David Beckham)
“We used to go to the pictures every Saturday night but we had to leave a little bit early and get home and watch Match of the Day. My wife still complains she missed the last five minutes of every film we saw.”
“I only ever hit Roy the once. He got up so I couldn’t have hit him very hard.” (On dealing with Roy Keane)
“Outside the family life, there is nothing better than winning the European Cups.” “Resignations are for prime ministers and those caught with their trousers down, not for me.” “We’d talk for 20 minutes, then decide I was right.” (On how he handled disputes with players)
"On occasions I have been big-headed. I think most people are when they get in the limelight. I call myself big head just to remind myself not to be."

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SIR BRIAN
Happy birthday to Brian Clough - the legendary former Derby County and Nottingham Forest manager would have been 83 today.
Cloughie, arguably the most charismatic football manager of all time, died from cancer in 2004.

PURE BRIAN
25 years ago today: the end of an era as NFFC legend Brian Clough said goodbye to the City Ground. Amidst the tears, he ended with a classic one-liner:
”The one thing I’ll miss is walking on the Trent. I’ve got to an age where I have to walk on the path now.”

14 years ago today
It was 14 years ago today that legend Sir Brian Howard Clough moved onto a better place.
I bet that he has one hell of a team wherever he is now.
RIP to the best manager England never had.

The best manager that England never had would have been 84 today.
People remember him as one of the greatest managers of all time but he wasn’t that bad a player as well.
His Sunderland AFC record is
Played 61 games scored 54 goals. What would he be worth today? eat your heart out Messi.

Were Sunderland in the 3rd tier of English football like they are now? With those stats he would have been snapped up by one of the Championship high flyers. OTBC. Clough and Pukki upfront........

EDWARD IT IS THEN
Teddy Sheringham is 53 today. His first day at #NFFC with Cloughie was memorable one:
💬”He came walking down the corridor and said ‘Ah you must be Edward Sheringham’. I told him I was, but that I preferred to be called Teddy. He said ‘OK, welcome to the club, Edward’.”
