MAZARRON FC v YECLANO DEPORTIVO ´B´
Here we go................
MAZARRON FC v YECLANO DEPORTIVO ´B´
KICKOFF 7pm (19.00)
SUNDAY 07-09-2014
The last time the two teams met was in the 2012-13 season when Mazarron FC collected a point in both the home and away game.
In it's self this doesn't seem remarkable but that season Yeclano ran away with the league and were promoted as champions. Indeed Mazarron FC were, in many ways, unlucky not to have done the double over the team from north Murcia.
The scorers in those games were Jose Rubens in the second minute in the away tie (he also missed 3 sitters) and young Diego from the penalty spot with Yeclano scoring an undeserved equalsing in the 81st minute.
Promtion to the Prefente Autonomica division wasn't kind to Yeclano as they finished in 13th place and dropped into our league.

Due to the late securing of the clubs 'second' shirt sponsor and the need to have the shirts printed with the sponsors logo and slogan the team this weekend will be wearing last seasons shirts for this one game and therefore the numbers worn will not necessarily reflect their squad numbers for the new 2014-15 season.
I hope that you can get down to the ground as I personally think that this could be one of if not the hardest game of the season.

Wow....that's one hell of a start to the season! As Steve said, Yeclano were expected to be one of the best teams this season having come down from the Preferente.
But......Mazarrón 4-0 Yeclano B!!!!!
Hat-trick for Tolo.

Well we couldn't have got off to a better start to the 2014-15 season if we tried.
Mazarron FC took on a team just relegated from the Preferente division and were one of the fancied teams for a quick return so it was with trepidation that we sat down for the early evening entertainment in temperatures in excess of 30 degrees and clear blue skies.
I have seen a lot of promise in the team that Jose, Diego and Javi has put together over the summer break, retaining some of our best players and recruiting experienced footballer from the local area. Pre season often gives a false picture of how a team is developing but even I was unaware of how well this team would gel so quickly and well.
Before the game even kicked off there was some good news in that the local Spanish Mazarron FC supporters club had reformed and were actively recruiting locals to come and join us, ex pats, at the game which all goes well for the future.
On to the game:
The game took an early pattern which would continue through the match with Mazarron FC applying constant pressure on the Yeclano goal and chances fell to both Tolo and Cristian, who plays wide on the left but often cuts in for a more central role. Chances were often denied by a number of strange and incorrect off side decision from the linesman who was very flag happy much to the displeasure of the home supporters.
For those of you who have followed Mazarron for a while you may recall a player by the name of Ivan Nuefuentes who had a tremendous record with the club and moved onto bigger and better thing after leaving us. His main tactic was to sit exactly on the shoulder of the last defender and to beat him and the 'offside trap' for pace and go onto score many a fine goal. OK yes he was often caught out with a raised flag but most of the time he was successful. In Tolo and especially Cristian we have two players who do the same and tonight the ran the Yeclano defence ragged.
The first clear cut chance of the game came in the 23rd minute when Tolo, on receiving the ball, over elaborated his final move and tried to walk the ball into the net when a shot or a pass to the waiting Cristian would have borne fruit, but it wasn't to be and the ball was cleared.
But we didn't have to wait to long before the off side trap was sprung with an excellent defence splitting ball from Dani found Tolo one on one with the keeper and there would be only one result. GOAL
Mazarron FC 1 Yeclano 0
As the half time whistle was approaching Tolo again bore down on the Yeclano goal. The goal keeper rushed out of his area and as Tolo rounded him the keeper first handled the ball outside of his area then pulled down the Mazarron striker. The 'portero' was surprisingly only given a yellow card, but he was to pay for his dirty tactics as direct from the free kick and from some 25 metres Tolo buried the ball into the top right hand corner of the net.
Mazarron FC 2 Yeclano 0 HALF TIME
Early into the second half Yeclano managed to get a corner and a strange incident took place. Conejo (Rabbit) easily collected the high cross and fell to the floor as he collected it. Javi, the Mazarron manager, has adopted the tactics of putting a player on each post at corners and it paid dividends as Conejo, for some unexplained reason through the ball that he had just collected into his own net but it was fortunately cleared off the line by one of the 'post minders', strange.
Mazarron then simply contained Yeclano without changing up a gear and the away team didn't really get a sniff of a goal with Juan Lorca and the rest of the defence carrying out stirling work at the rear, Alfonso pulling the string from midfield and the rampant stikers striking fear into the away defence.
Half way through the second half Javi made three changes with the excellent Cristian being replaced by Chema, and boy didn't that substitution make a difference late on. Israel was replaced by the young flying winger Juanillio and Alfonso being replaced by Damian.
Almost immediately the game changed with Mazarron putting their foot down again and it was Tolo yet again on the end of brilliant pass from the midfield which left him and the keeper eye to eye and there would only be one out come, GOAL
Mazarron 3 Yeclano 0
But perhaps the best goal of the game was yet to come. Chema had been terrorising the Yeclano right back since he had joined the fray and it was Tolo who turned provider as he flicked over an inch perfect pass to Chema who slaughtered the right back and hit the ball on the full volley with the ball almost bursting the net with the poor keeper rooted to the spot.
Mazarron FC 4 Yeclano 0
Full time shortly followed with the ref calling an end to the proceeding I'm sure to prevent any further injury to a punch drunk Yeclano'
