Paul Hurst swaps Grimsby for Shrewsbury
Paul Hurst, who has been linked with the Notts County manager's job in the past, has left Grimsby Town to become the new manager of Shrewsbury Town after the two clubs agreed a compensation package.
Shrewsbury, who have been without a manager since Micky Mellon left on October 7 to take over at National League side Tranmere, approached Grimsby over the weekend for permission to speak to Hurst and the Mariners confirmed his departure to the New Meadow on Monday morning.
Chris Doig has also left Grimsby and he will be Hurst's assistant at Shrewsbury, who are currently bottom of League One and six points adrift of safety.
Meanwhile, Dave Moore has been installed as caretaker manager while Grimsby look for a successor to Hurst.

A NEW MANAGER FOR WREXHAM, WELL, NOT REALLY
Wrexham have appointed former midfielder Dean Keates as their new manager following the departure of Gary Mills.
Keates made over 150 league appearances for Wrexham and captained the club to an FA Trophy win in 2013.
The 38-year-old, along with Joey Jones and Andy Davies, had been in temporary charge of the National League club after Mills was sacked on 13 October.
"Dean is a man with an excellent pedigree in football," the club said.

HE WASN'T THERE LONG
Championship club Wolves have parted company with head coach Walter Zenga after just 87 days in charge.
The former Italy goalkeeper, 56, replaced Kenny Jackett on 30 July, shortly after Chinese conglomerate Fosun International bought the club.
Despite significant investment in the playing squad in August, Wolves have won only four of 14 league games and are 18th in the Championship.

TIM SHERWOOD GET READY TO JOIN THE MERRY GO ROUND, YOUR UP NEXT.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been sacked as manager of Championship side Queens Park Rangers.
The Dutchman, 44, was appointed in December last year but won only 14 of his 47 matches in charge.
Hasselbaink left QPR after a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest on Saturday, which leaves them 17th in the table and six points above the relegation zone.
The club said an announcement about its managerial situation "will be made in due course".
Former Tottenham and Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood had been linked with the job prior to Hasselbaink's departure.

NOW HERE'S A GENUINE SUPRISE
Tim Sherwood has been appointed as director of football at struggling League One club Swindon Town.
The former Tottenham manager, 47, has been without a job since being sacked by Aston Villa in October 2015.
Having signed a five-year contract in March, head coach Luke Williams will remain in his role at the club, who are in the relegation zone after winning just two of their past 12 league games.
Sherwood's playing career saw him capped three times by England.
Former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood has been appointed director of football at Swindon.
The ex-Aston Villa boss had been linked with the manager's job at QPR but has instead moved to the League One side and was presented to the media on Thursday afternoon.

NOT A 'MERRY CHRISTMAS' FOR SLADE
Charlton Athletic manager Russell Slade has left after less than six months in the job.
The 56-year-old's departure follows a 3-0 defeat at Swindon on Saturday in only his 16th league game in charge.
Slade is the sixth manager to leave the Addicks since January 2014, although Jose Riga had two spells as boss.

SURELY NOT.
Ex-England and Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and MK Dons have been in contact over the vacant manager's role.
It is not clear whether the 36-year-old midfielder, who is set to leave MLS side LA Galaxy in December, will retire from playing should he land the role.
He would succeed Karl Robinson at MK Dons, who are 21st in League One.

Hednesford Town boss Liam McDonald has left Keys Park ‘with a heavy heart’ to join National League side Solihull Moors.
The 31-year-old manager is taking backroom staff Nick Green and David Bridgwater with him following an approach from the Moors last week.
McDonald was installed as Pitmen boss in May this year, and he leaves Hednesford in fourth place in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division, just three points off top spot.
But the former Redditch United manager felt he couldn’t pass up the opportunity to move up two divisions.
McDonald has replaced new Grimsby manager Marcus Bignot at Solihull.

I THOUGHT NOT
Talks between Steven Gerrard and MK Dons have ended, with the League One side continuing their search for a new manager with other candidates.
Positive initial talks took place between the Dons and Gerrard, 36, who will leave LA Galaxy in December.
But the League One side will now continue their search to replace Karl Robinson elsewhere, having already spoken to other candidates.
Gerrard has been linked with Celtic, Inter Milan and a return to Liverpool.
