I wonder if we will ever see Spain playing there, and would they be allowed over the border without the usual 4 hour delay??
The Gibraltar Football Association unveils the design for a new 8,000-seat stadium so the new Uefa minnows can play international games at home.
Gibraltar currently play their international matches in Faro, Portugal, because its existing Victoria Stadium was built in the 1940s and does not meet Uefa requirements.
But the association says the new Europa Point Stadium, with 8,066 seats, will have upgraded facilities and hopes it will be built in time for qualifying for the 2018 World Cup.
Did you know?
The Gibraltar Football Association (GFA) was formed as the Gibraltar Civilian Football Association in 1895, and is one of the oldest national associations in the world.
Whilst:
The Spanish federation was founded in 1909 as Federación Española de Clubs de Football.

Just to add this small extract from Wiki......
"The oldest football club in Spain is Recreativo de Huelva, formed on December 23, 1889 by Dr. Aaron Mackay and British workers employed by the Rio Tinto Company. The first official football game played in Spain took place in Seville on March 8, 1890 at the Tablada Hippodrome. Recreativo de Huelva played against Sevilla FC, a team made up of workers from the Seville Water Works. With the exception of two Spanish players on the Huelva team, all the players on both teams were British. This is the reason why the team is called Sevilla FC (football club) and not Sevilla CF ('club de fútbol' in Spanish). The Seville team won 2-0."

GIBRALTAR 1 FAROE ISLANDS 4 (1/3/2014) Instead, traditional whipping boys of Europe, the Faroe Islands were for once the team to prosper, defeating Gibraltar 4-1 at the Victoria Stadium. Captain Roy Chipolina, whose header gave the hosts a first-half lead, impressed. "We were poor, we didn't want it enough," said the Gibraltar manager, although Chipolina himself led by example as one of three centre-backs and Farsley forward Adam Priestley also put in a shift, chasing down possession for the full 90 minutes. The Faroes were technically more competent and confident, though, and could have won even more convincingly, had it not been for a missed penalty. They looked dangerous at every opportunity, and penetrated Gibraltar's defensive third at will, even though they had set out in a 5-4-1 formation. Gibraltar start their Euro qualifiers with a home game against Poland in September, by which point they should have rediscovered their verve and spirit. The level of fitness is a real concern, however, given the amount of ball-chasing they are likely to be doing against pretty much all their group opponents. Admittedly, having a squad made up of mainly amateur and semi-professional players who all have other professions makes that even more of a challenge. Getting enough time with his players is one frustration for Bula, and having a smaller pool to pick from is another; hence the call-ups for Wycombe striker Reece Styche who started the game and Wrexham defender David Artell who came on as a substitute in the last 10 minutes. With a few new faces, the camaraderie in the squad has been growing all week, so Bula's immediate task is not to let this defeat affect the atmosphere too much. It's a brutal coming down to earth for UEFA's newest and smallest nation, but it's best that it happens now rather than in six months' time. The best possible response would be to give their next visitors, Estonia, a run for their money on Wednesday night. The return of ex-Portsmouth midfielder Liam Walker and Preston defender Scott Wiseman will help not only in terms of experience but increased professionalism, which, in time, will hopefully rub off on the rest of the squad.

GIBRALTAR TEAM UP AND RUNNING IN EUROPEAN COMPETITION Joseph Chipolina scored the first goal by a Gibraltar club in a European club competition as Lincoln Red Imps drew their opening Champions League match. The champions of Gibraltar for the past 12 seasons were held 1-1 at home by Faroe Islands club HB Torshavn in the first qualifying round first leg. Chipolina put the home side ahead from the penalty spot before Levi Hanssen equalised in the second half. The winner over the two legs will play Serbian giants Partizan Belgrade. Gibraltar is the newest and smallest member of Uefa, European football's governing body, after being accepted in May last year. The British overseas territory beat Malta 1-0 last month in a friendly in Portugal - their first international victory as Uefa members after two draws and two defeats.

Gibraltar FA launches appeal against Fifa membership rejection The Gibraltar Football Association will appeal against Fifa's decision to reject its bid to become a member. Fifa says Gibraltar contravenes the world governing body's statutes regarding independent territories. Gibraltar, a British overseas territory whose sovereignty is disputed by Spain, won an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) to be accepted into Uefa in 2013. Its FA has now launched an appeal with Cas against Fifa's decision. A Gibraltar FA spokesman said: "We expected this decision by Fifa based on their statutes which, in their view, states Gibraltar is not an independent territory so we have initiated our appeal to Cas. That's our next step. "We are a Uefa member nation now and we will take it to the next stage - if you look at the history of our Uefa membership that's the way it went as well."
