If you use the Santander ferry to the UK with Britanny ferries have a try with this company, you could just save yourself a lot of cash. ldlines.co.uk/timetables/santander-pooleUPDATE FROM LESWe've been using their Newhaven-Dieppe route for a few years. They have a 20% discount on that for over 60s! The timings are also perfect for getting through France in a day - meaning only one night in a hotel (in Pamplona). The new one you've posted might make the costings a lot closer. Although, as it arrives in the evening, it would still mean an overnight stay somewhere. Incidentally, they have also launched Poole-Gijon - although, of course, that is an even longer drive down. You might want to point out to the mailing list that they have a limited number of bookings available as a launch offer which includes a virtually free (inside) cabin. There's certainly availability on the Gijon sailing and they still seem to have it listed for Santander.

Just an update to this info.....
There are still 'promotional' prices on both the Poole-Santander and Poole-Gijon routes through September.
Single crossing for a car plus two is from £199 including an inside cabin. They are also doing basic car plus two with no cabin (reclining seats) from £119 single.

And a further - not good - update.................
LD Lines issued redundancy notices to staff on the Spanish routes on 31st July. It seems there are many issues surrounding tightening emissions regs., ending of EU subsidies, competing routes on the France-Spain links, etc.
They are not taking further bookings and it seems the Poole routes to Santander/Gijon and their St. Nazaire - Gijon route will cease in early/mid September.
PS.....the Newhaven-Dieppe route mentioned above is not affected. It's actually run by a sister company.
