NEXT HOME GAME
TERCERA DIVISION GRUPO XIII - game 5
Sunday 23/09/2018 kickoff 6pm (18:00)
To be played at the ESTADIO MUNICIPAL DE MAZARRON Pedro Mendez Mendez
MAZARRON F.C. v NV ESTUDIANTES DE MURCIA C.F.
Yet again, we return home with our tails between our legs after losing out on an away trip. In a game of two halves, Mazarrón F.C. returned from Yecla with a 2-0 loss and no points to add to the campaign. Both goals came in the first half when Yeclano out-played Mazarron with 13 shots (10 on target) to 2 (none on target). The second half was more even, but Mazarron could not find the net and, in the end, last years league champions fully deserved their victory.
This week's opponents, NV Estudiantes de Murcia, came up short against last season's Preferente champions, CAP Ciudad de Murcia, going down 1-2 - giving them an unwanted four from four - LOSSES! They sit entrenched at the bottom of the table with zero points to their name.
You may wonder who NV Estudiantes actually are - I did! Remember back in 2014 we played a team called Espinado Atletico in the Primera Division? They played in the Espinado suburb of Murcia - near the Terra Natura zoo. Sometime later, they became Nueva Vanguardia and played in Acantarilla. And last year they became NV (see where that came from?) Estudiantes and played at the University back near where they started in Espinado.
I thought that's where they would be playing this season, but it turns out they have moved to a stadium which has desperate memories for Mazarron FC supporters.
Way back in 2013, we played a team called Corvera CF in the Primera Division. Here is part of the match report:
"Mazarrón were again beaten 1-0 in their first away game of the season at Corvera but the main talking point was the disgraceful state of the ground at Corvera.
How the Murcian Football Federation allow teams into its league with such primitive facilities is beyond belief. The playing pitch was simply earth that had been rolled and seemed to have been dug out of a hill with two goalposts placed at each end and sloped heavily from one end to another.
There were no toilet facilities for the many lady supporters who travelled from Mazarrón and no seats for spectators unless you sat on the few steps which the players and match officials had to use to enter and leave the field of play. Otherwise spectators had to stand at the top of the mounds of earth from which the pitch had been dug. It beggars belief that Corvera had the gall to charge spectators for admission."
It seems they have laid an artificial surface since then, but we will have to wait for the return game to see if the other failings have been cured.
Current league table standings show Mazarron in 11th place with 6 points and NV Estudiantes in 22nd place with zero points.
Details of sanctions or suspensions will be posted when they are released on Thursday.

There seems to be no room on the poster to indicate the entry fee or is it gratis?
On my return to Spain I will be looking to buy 2 female season tickets. One for the boss and one for me. Any stilettos, long dresses and wigs will be gratefully received as I start making the change to save my 15 euros. To match my eyes I prefer pale yellow and green. OTBC

There are no sanctions or suspensions for either team for this game Apart from Juanjo who will still be 'sitting in the stand' - I love that phrase!

Sounds like he needs to bring a cushion as he will spend most of the season "Sitting in the stand" as this is his second dismissal during his short management career at Mazarron. We may need a fundraiser for a 2 way radio so he can communicate with the bench. Looking forward to reading later that we have won and we can get on a roll like the mighty 3 wins in a row Canaries. I believe Delia has made tomorrow a bank holiday to mark this historic event.

BOOKINGS
Mazarrón saw 7 yes 7 yellow cards today and two of them were for Campoy who will receive a single match suspension.
Next weekend sees Boudia serving the last of his 6 match suspension from last season after which he will be available for selection.
We have just got to sort out these bookings or they could ruin our season, but how many times have we said that?
3 points in the bag but against the weakest side in the league. Next weekends opponents, Churra, drew 2-2 today and will be a much sterner test for our boys.
Mazarrón FC now sit just outside of the playoffs with 9 points from 5 games, a good steady start to a long season.

BOOKINGS Mazarrón saw 7 yes 7 yellow cards today and two of them were for Campoy who will receive a single match suspension. His first was timed the same as his goal. If it was for 'over celebrating' someone needs to have strong words!!! Not sure who the 'someone' can be tho' as Juanjo isn't a saint is he!
