Mazarrón F.C. 0-1 Deportivo Minera Half Time. And that's how it finished. An indication of the challenge ahead this season? But the pitch looks good!

A GOOD RUN OUT
Mazarron face Minera, an established Tercera side, last night and gave a good account of themselves in front of a large crowd at the Pedro Mendez Mendez stadium.
Overall Mazarrón had most of the possession but couldn’t find a cutting edge up front to justify its midfield control.
The only goal of the game was a bit of a shocker when a speculative long range effort somehow squirmed underneath the usually reliable Antonio Peña in goal who was one of the heroes of the playoff finals last season. His reaction told it all as he was absolutely gutted. In fact he only lasted another 15 minutes before being replaced in goal by a substitute who was himself replaced in the second half by a third goal keeping change.
As per most pre season game the second half brought numerous changes including the introduction of Boudia who brought stability to the back line and he was always a threat at set pieces and corners.
Young Diego, who was recently resigned by Mazarrón had a good game but the heartbeat of the the side was an ever energetic Joseda who’s cultured delivery from setpieces was the main threat Mazarrón brought to the table.
The home side were denied an equaliser late on by a point blank save by the Minera keeper and a number of chance went begging through the lack of an offensive cutting edge.
This was a feisty game with plenty of yellow cards and the coming together of players certainly not a friendly.
Surprisingly these two sides meet in the Tercera league in the up coming season, so why play a pre season game against them?, by which time Mazarrón need to address the lack of someone leading the line and need to sign a recognised goal scorer or it could be a long season ahead.
FINAL SCORE
Mazarron F.C. 0 v Minera 1

Speaking to Pedro this morning at the ground he said that Lorca were top draw and will challenge for a quick return to Division 2B He could be right. They beat our first game opponents, Huercal Overa, 4-1 yesterday. As they beat us 3-0. it looks like our first game will be a close one!

A good result and good to see the ladies favourite Willy return and looking like he had been on the Grant Holt preseason training regime . Fortunately he was very quiet and big Willy wouldn't have won man of the match tonight. The returning Diego looked a class above this evening.

MAZARRÓN F.C. 4 RACING MURCIA CITY 1
What are Pre season games all about? They are there to bond a team of old and new faces, they are there to establish good footballing practices, they are about match fitness, they are there to enable the manage/coach to get his ideas over.
What we saw last night was an accomplishment of all of these things. Training four day a week for our lads has left them leaner (well almost all) fitter and working as a unit. The manager was less animated from the touch line than before as he watched his charges carry out his instructions.
Let’s not get this wrong, Mazarrón demolished RMC last night, I know that they will be playing in a division below us next season but you can only beat what is before you, and beat them they did.
Prior to the first goal scored by Barriles as he ghosted in from the left wing to slot home in the opposite corner of the net, Mazarrón had three clear cut chances, two denied by point blank saves by the keeper and one cleared off the line.
The second goal was an excellent crashing header by the outstanding Andreo from a set piece, the third quickly followed from Carrasco repeating Barriles path in from the left to thunder an unstoppable drive passed the keeper.
The second half brough the inevitable changes which always disrupts play but Mazarrón never took their foot off the throat of RMC, even ex Mazarrón player Willi, who’s carrying a lot of weight this year, was withdrawn as ineffectual by the visiting coach Andreo never let him get a look in all evening.
The only down of the night was when the home sides defence lost track of a visiting forward who beat Mazarróns keeper who was stuck in no mans land between last defender and his goal line, a pity as a clean sheet was clearly deserved.
Mid way through the second half the visiting keeper was seen off his line and a beautiful lob nestled into the net having looped over his head only for play to be called back for a foul awarded TO Mazarrón! Have they never heard about the ‘advantage’ rule?
The game ended with the well stacked Pedro Casado bursting though onto an inch perfect pass, but as he bore down on goal he was blatantly pulled down by the last defender, red card, free kick, ball cleared. But Pedro wasn’t to be denied as a few minutes later a ball from the left found three unmarked Mazarrón players poised to score but it was Pedro who rifled it into the back of the net.
Final goal and the pre season trophy goes to Mazarrón F.C.
It’s hard to pick out individuals for praise from such an excellent performance, it was nice to see Basi back in a red shirt but Diego, Andreo and Boudia were the star turns for me. Diego stroking the ball about in mid field with inch perfect passes, Andreo hustling and bustling not allowing opponents to settle and Boudia now filling the role that ‘Sam’ has now vacated.
A couple of questions from last night were where was Joseda and keeper Peña? Hopefully just unavailable I hope so as they are key members of this squad.
The futures bright, the future is red.
*apparently Peña was in goal for the second half, new haircut fooled me🤣*

MAZARRÓN F.C. 4 RACING MURCIA CITY 1 ... it was nice to see Basi back in a red shirt Announcement today by Lorca Deportiva: "The Lorca Deportiva and the Mazarrón Fútbol Club have reached an agreement for the assignment of the Lorca player Basilio this season." lorcadeportiva.es/basilio-cedido-al-mazarron/But it's the usual problem with Spanish translation! Is is it a permanent transfer or a temporary loan or what?
