NEXT AWAY GAME
LIGA PHILIPS PREFERENTE GRUPO UNICO - game 24
Scheduled for Sunday 26/02/2017
To be played at the CAMPO MUNICIPAL. JOSE BARNES
R. MURCIA CITY v MAZARRON F.C.
Mazarrón FC are back on the road again for next weekends game and this time it's to play Racing Murcia City (RMC) at their home ground in Murcia city.
WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEKEND?
Mazarrón FC, playing a FC Cartagena 'B' side who sat in 4th place with all the backing of the main side in Cartagena, and lead until the very last minute after Raul had given the home side a 1-0 lead in the first half. But it wasn't to be as our visited conjured up a last minute equaliser. This result dropped Mazarrón just outside of the playoff places but it's tight up their with the last 3 playoff places being chased by 6 teams with only 2 points separating them but Mazarrón FC do have a game in hand.
Meanwhile RMC were involved in a right ding dong of a battle at relegation bound Montecasillas. Montecasillas held a 4-2 lead until the 89th minute but RMC raced back (did you see what I did there?) and even though down to 10 men they scored two goals in the last minute to bring the score line level for a final score of 4-4, what a game.
RACING MURCIA CITY
RMC play at a ground that we are familiar with, the José Barnés stadium in the Murcia city limits. For those with sat navs the ground coordinates for the ground are 37° 59' 40" N, 01° 08' 08" W and the ground is not far off the A30 and the N340. The stadium is on Calle Auditorium which will also work on your Tomtom.
The ground is part of a large multi sport complex and has seating, canteen facilities and modern toilets. The pitch had a modern artificial surface so the ball should run true. The sports complex is 55KM and 40 minutes from Camposol.
RMC play in an all purple strip so Mazarrón could play in either red home or blue away strip for this game.
WHAT HAPPENED WHEN WE LAST MET?
MAZARRON FC 2 - RACING MURCIA CITY 1 (09.10.2016)
Mazarron made it three games without defeat with a hard fought 2-1 home win against Racing Murcia City. It was a game which saw Mazarron having to dig deep into their resources but, once again, a fighting performance saw them come out on top.
Racing Murcia had the better of the first half in which Mazarron keeper Juan Pedro had to be on top form with three outstanding saves. Without central defensive stalwart Raso, Mazarron looked to captain Juan Andreo to marshall his troops and, as usual he led by example.
Koko had a shot saved for Mazarron but it was Racing Murcia who made all the running and their pressure paid off after 33 minutes when Juan Pedro was finally beaten by a shot into the far corner of the net. Mazarron's only other effort of note in the first half was a 43rd minute free kick from just outside the penalty area which sailed well over the bar.
It was a different story after the interval as Mazarron began to play with some purpose and it took only four minutes for the home team to get on level terms. Stand in centre back Boudia met a well taken corner and headed the ball home. Former Mazarron favourite Willy was causing problems for the home team but Mazarron continued to dominate the game and scored a second after 66 minutes with a superb strike from 25 yards by substitute Steven.
An overhead shot by Raul was saved by the Racing Murcia keeper but, at the other end Juan Pedro had to make another superb save to deny the visitors. Willy then had a free kick cleared by the hard working Mazarron defence before the referee brought relief to the home supporters with the final whistle after four minutes of injury time.
CURRENT STATS
7th Mazarrón FC P 22 W 10 D 6 L 6 GF 32 GA 20 Points 36
11th RMC P 23 W 7 D 6 L 10 GF 41 GA 45 Points 27
So looking at these statistics you can see that RMC easily outscore us but have conceded over twice the number of goals that we have.
WHO TO LOOK OUT FOR?
Of course we will be keeping an eye on Willi their top marksman, who scored last weekend, he has 10 goals to his name so far, but he was put off his game at Mazarrón when the home supporters subjected him to continuous 'banter'. RMC also have a couple of other players on 6 & 7 goals but I reckon shackling our old play could be the key.
SANCTIONS AND SUSPENSIONS
We know that RMC will be missing one of their ever present defenders, Daniel RUIZ MAIQUEZ, who was sent off last weekend so weakening an already fragile defence. We'll see what other sanctions are posted by the federation on Thursday.
AWAY SUPPORTERS COACH
Details of the away supporters coach will be published on the Mazarrón forum site and Los Amigos Facebook page when available
