NEXT AWAY GAME
CD LUMBRERAS v MAZARRÓN FC
Scheduled for Sunday 27th November 2016
(CD Lumbreras usually play their home matches on a Sunday)
Oh I have so many happy memories of travelling to CD Lumbreras over the years, games where we have come away with buckets of points and putting one over ex managers, and I'm looking forward to this encounter. Who can forget the 'battle of Lumbreras when our boys were attacked by their supporters and players alike with Tolo being laid out flat? Roll on next weekend.
The last time we met was in the 2014/15 season when Mazarrón FC claimed a clean sweep with a 3-0 home win and a 1-2 away win (the battle of Lumbreras)
And next weekends game couldn't have come at a better time with our hosts languishing at the foot of the table scrapping for the odd point or two whilst Mazarrón FC sits fairly comfortably in a mid table position. This game will be against one of our leagues struggling sides for once, we have recently seemed to have been playing the teams from the top of the table, so time to 'dip our bread'
WHAT HAPPENED LAST WEEKEND?
The leagues bottom club, CD Lumbreras, were away at 3rd from bottom Monticasillas when the result was a 0-0 draw even though Montecasillas were reduced to 10 men
Meanwhile Mazarrón FC were at home for a late night encounter with Molina with our ex manager and half a team of ex Mazarrón players. In a hard fought game it ended honours equal at 0-0 despite Mazarrón hitting the woodwork twice and having a cast iron penalty decision turned down. But it's another point gained against a well organised team.
CURRENT STATS
11th MAZARRÓN FC P 13 W 4 D 4 L 5 GF 12 GA 13 Points 16
18th CD LUMBRERAS P 13 W 2 D 2 L 9 GF 14 GA 40 Points 8
OUR HOSTS
Last season CD Lumbreras finished 6th in the Primera Autonomica and were promoted through the usual route of other clubs folding.
Their home strip is RED shirts and white shorts so Mazarrón FC will be in their alternative strip of BLUE or is it BLACK this season, I give up.
CD Lumbreras play in the reasonably modern but somewhat rundown MUNICIPAL DE PUERTO LUMBRERAS stadium in the Puerto Lumbreras. Although the stadium is not that old and forms part of this small towns sports centre it has seen better days and is not well maintained.
The pitch is artificial, the stand is an elevated uncovered concrete block with the setting sun behind the spectators. And because of the altitude of the town it gets mighty cold once the sun has gone behind the nearby hills, so wrap up well for the game and take a hot drink.
There is a canteen and the toilets are OK.
For those of you independently traveling the co ordinates of the ground are 37° 32' 48" N, 01° 48' 38" W. The distance to the stadium is 63Km from Camposol but will only take 40 minutes as it's almost motorway all the way there. On leaving Camposol follow the dual carriageway passing Peraton and join the A7 motorway on which you will be staying for almost all of the journey and head for Lorca. Stay on the A7 passed Lorca then on arrival at Puerto Lumbreras drive passed the town which will be on your left as the easiest route into the stadium is if you come in at the far end of the village on the N340 having passed the town. Leave the A7 at it's junction with the N340 and head back into the town and some 200 meters on your right, straight after passing over a dried river bed, you will see the sports center which is well sign posted. There is plenty of car parking at the stadium.
Details of the supporters away coach will be published on the Mazarrón FC forum and the Los Amigos Facebook site when known.
CD LUMBRERAS 'HOT SHOTS'
CD Lumbreras main source of goals come from two players. First is Miguel Angel Rodriguez Perez, their number 10, who has 4 goals to his name. He has played in all of their games and is a good boy with no cards against his name so I would imagine that we should see him next weekend and his strike partner, with the same surname, and wearing the number 19 shirt, Diego Morote Perez who has scored 3 goals this season. Between them they have accounted for half the goals, 14, CD Lumbreras have managed this term whilst they have conceded 40!
SUSPENSIONS, SANCTIONS & TEAM NEWS
Details of any suspensions, sanctions and other team news will be posted on the Mazarrón FC forum and the Los Amigos Facebook site when available.
