It's interesting to note how the Barca and Real second elevens are struggling in the Segunda Division this season.
Barca 'B' are 18th out of 22. Real Castilla are doing even worse - they're 22nd!!!

Real Castilla ease a bit of pressure on them by winning the mini-clasico against Barca B (3-1). But they're still languishing in the Segunda relegation zone.
However, this division is so tight that their 30 points are only 7 points off a promotion place!!!
To quote Marca....'Ranking in the League Second division is tighter than a nightclub at four in the morning!'

Well, here we are a year later and what's changed?
Real Madrid - Castilla did indeed get relegated to Segunda B. But Barca B went on an amazing run and finished 3rd.
Not so good for Barca B this year.....they lost today and are now only one point above the relegation zone.

It gets no better for Barca 'B'. Their record since the end of February is 3 draws and 2 defeats! They are now 2 points from safety - in the mire!

A further two defeats and only one win, means Barca B are really in trouble now. Real Madrid-Castilla aren't breaking into the promotion places either, so both the 'big' 'B' teams could be playing in Segunda B next season. Just a shame they'll be in different groups!

10th May ... Barca 'B' lose today and are relegated to Segunda B.
Real Madrid 'B' (Castilla) only draw and can't now make the playoffs so will also be in Segunda B next season.
What does this say about the lack of depth in these clubs?

Just a note about Barca 'B'.....their defeat at home yesterday to CF Badalona means they have now dropped into the automatic relegation places! Will we see them in the Catalan Tercera next season???
On the other hand, Real Madrid-Castilla are going great guns and are in a solid 2nd place in their group looking to bounce back to Segunda A.

Amazing!
A run of 7 wins and a couple of draws meant Barca 'B' have sped up to 8th place in their league. Although they have lost their last 2 games!
Real Madrid Castilla meanwhile, hang on in there in 2nd place for a play-off spot.

Another month goes by and Barca 'B' are stuck in mid-table. Safe from relegation to the Tercera but a long way from competing for a play-off place.
Real Madrid-Castilla have secured their play-off place and are actually within striking distance of the top spot and the one easier promotion place back to 2A.

AMAZING, a final run of 6 wins and a draw saw the Real Madrid second team pip Barakaldo on head-to-head to take the 2B Group 2 title.
They will now play UCAM Murcia in the playoffs for promotion to the Segunda.
UCAM Murcia vs Real Madrid Castilla, Sunday 22 May, KO: 18:30. La Condomina, Murcia. Return leg the following weekend.
Meanwhile, Barca B ended with a whimper in 11th place.
