Final Segunda division league table:
By winning their last two games of the regular season, Real Murcia finished in 4th place in the Segunda division and will now play-off for promotion to the First division.
MARCA: The 42nd and last day of the League has decided the four teams battling it out in the playoffs for a ticket to the First Division, and accompanying Eibar and Deportivo (who are automatically promoted). The two-legged ties will be Real Murcia vs Córdoba, on one hand, and Sporting Gijon vs Las Palmas on the other.
The first leg of the semifinals will be played on Wednesday (11th) at the New Archangel, Cordoba at 20:00 and Gran Canaria, Las Palmas at 22:00 hours. The second legs will be played on Sunday (15th) at 19:00 in the Molinón, Gijon and 21:00 in New Condomina, Murcia.
The grand final for promotion to first division will be held the following week, playing the first leg on Thursday 19th at 20:00 pm and the return leg on Sunday 22nd at 18:00.
EDIT:
How the mighty have fallen! At the other end of the table, Hercules CF of Alicante have been relegated into Segunda 'B'.
Does anyone remember the famous day of Saturday, 11th September, 2010? FC Barcelona 0-2 Hercules CF. The Catalans' only home defeat of the season. And they only lost one away game too! One year, three months and 19 days after Barcelona's last home defeat in the league, Hércules turned the league upside down. Barça had won their last 11 home matches, scored at least three times in each of their last six league fixtures and were protecting a 17-game unbeaten streak. Amazingly, however, this was Hercules's third successive win over the Catalans, having won both meetings in their previous top flight campaign 14 years before. After a solid first half to the season, the team slumped in the table, eventually ranking in 19th position for an immediate relegation back to the Segunda after just one year in the top flight.

Final Tercera (to Segunda B) promotion result:
1st leg UD Alzira 3-0 Yeclano
2nd leg Yeclano 2-1 UD Alzira
So Yeclano lose out and stay in the Tercera for next season.
But, with UCAM-Murcia having been promoted to 2B (and no one coming back down), that should allow one extra promotion from each of the lower divisions. Good news for SOHO-Medi!

Odds and sods from Murcian neighbours..................
One weird game in the play-off season is to decide the 'Campeón Absoluto' of the Segunda B leagues. This game is played between the two group winners who won their pay off games and are promoted. The final accolade went to Albacete who drew their 1st leg 1-1 and won 3-2 at home against Real Racing (Santander).
And our old friends in Orihuela are still in the promotion race. They won both legs of their semi-final (1-0 and 2-0) and only have two final games to navigate to get back to 2B.
EDIT: Orihuela win the first leg 2-0.
EDIT 8.7.2014: I forgot to close the loop on this! Orihuela lost the second leg 1-4 so stay in the Tercera.

Promotion to La Liga......
Having drawn 0-0 in Córdoba on Wednesday, Real Murcia are just about to play the game of the night for the chance to play off against Las Palmas (who beat Gijon tonight) for promotion to the First Division!
5 mins gone - penalty to Murcia....and Saúl misses the left hand post!
7 mins and Juanlu, who gave away the penalty, sets up Pedro to put Córdoba into the lead!!!
Half-time 0-1.
52 mins - and a superb solo run by Wellington Silva brings Murcia back on level terms...1-1 (but still behind on away goals)
but 57 mins and Córdoba go back in front 1-2.
It's all Murcia now as Córdoba pack the defence. But the Murcia shooting is far too wayward.
So I'm afraid our last local team exits the play-off games. Real Murcia will stay in the Segunda for next season.

Not a good weekend for the "big guns" in the Murcia region.
Real Murcia lost 0-1 at home to Celta "B"
And Cartagena drew with UCAM Murcia 0-0
Meanwhile lower down the leagues Bala Azul drew 1-1
At least one Mazarron team did well, didn't we?

BALA AZUL HAVING A POOR START TO THE SEASON Their current stats are played 2 lost two, goals for 2 goals against 6. They were stuffed 0-3 at home to Las Garres last Sunday a game that was played on the plastic pitches as their own grounds pitch isn't up to standard. The problem with playing there is no gate money and no canteen cash either. Hard times for our neighbours. Also Jose Ruben isn't recorded as playing neither in the starting line up or as a sub, I wonder where out late striker is? Gone walkabouts again? But he did play in the 3-2 defeat at Lorca the previous weekend, he didn't score and hard to believe he wasn't booked! Munir isn't on the team list either.

Bala Azul get their first points of the season with a win away at AGUILEÑO. They even do it with 10 men.
A number of bookings in this game including one for, surprise surprise, Jose Ruben.
Final score:
SPORTING CLUB AGUILEÑO 0 - 1 C.D. BALA AZUL

All the three Murcian teams in the local 2B division (Group 4) drew this weekend. UCAM Murcia are, however still 5 points clear it the top. FC Cartagena are mid-table, but La Hoya are struggling on the border-line of relegation.

Draws again for UCAM and Cartagena. La Hoya's game today has been postponed as 12 of their players have a stomach bug! Wonder where they went for their Christmas party?

UCAM-Murcia return to winning ways, but La Hoya and Cartagena both lose. La Hoya are firmly on the bottom and Cartagena are going south too.

Wow....two wins (UCAM and La Hoya) and a draw (Cartagena).
La Hoya now off the bottom - but still in the relegation zone.
