LA HOYA LOOKING GOOD SO FAR THIS SEASON La Hoya Lorca are the most sucessful team of the top three divisions of Spanish football leagues, they have gone 15 straight games without a defeat, a run in the Primera, Segunda and Segunda B only exceeded until Barcelona lost 1-0 last night in the Athletic Bilbao stadium. Lorca La Hoya, winning 0-1 on Sunday at their visit to Almeria with subsidiary goal Álvaro Rosa on the sixteenth day of the League in the group IV of Segunda B is making a remarkable season as evidenced by the fact the second-placed with 35 points scored, just one off Albacete, who are the leaders. This classification is particularly commendable considering La Hoya only just opens in the third category of Spanish football, which came following crowned as a champion of Trecera and after beating in the playoffs Peña Deportiva Santa Eulalia. Trained by José Miguel Campos box they premiered in the Second B losing 1-0 in the field of Granada B on August 23 and since then a run of 15 games unbeaten, with ten wins and five draws. The keys to La Hoya's success are, above all, the offensive and defensive line profitability. In fact, Alberto Cifuentes is the least beaten goalie in the category with seven goals scored -0.46% - and has four straight games without picking up the ball from his net. Moreover, the 22 points scored by the Broccoli Mechanic, as Lorca La Hoya are known (just look at their shirts) added 35 points, a big boost for a team that scored less than six of their group rivals. Ortuño and Alfredo Valencia Pablo Pallares, both with five goals, are their top scorers. (From La verdad, Murcia 2/12/13)

WHAT HAPPENED HERE THEN? Week ending 18/19-1-14 The game in the Segunda autonomica (the division below ours) between ATLCO PULPILEÑO & A.D. SANGONERA LA SECA was suspended in the 69th minute by the officials by which time two players had been sent off and many booked. Pulpieno were winning 3-0 at the time. (EDIT) Two players, one from each side have been given a 4 match ban!! And a second game is also suspended in the same league on the same weekend, this time it was between BLANCA CITRISAN EXPORT v U.D. ABANILLA suspended in the 87 minute with the score at 0-0. Strange goings on in that league.
(EDIT) BLANCA CITRISAN EXPORT have had players suspended for 1-2 5 and 6 games, one hell of a match.
Sorry, make that 3 games suspended last weekend in the Segunda autonomica, the third being between C.D. JAVALI NUEVO v E.F. VISTALEGRE-LOS MATEOS with the score at 1-0 the game was suspended in the 45th minute. A number of players had been booked and one was shown a red card. Sounds like a rum league to play in.
(EDIT) E.F. VISTALEGRE-LOS MATEOS total is one player suspended for 1 game and another for 6 games! WOW!!!!!

For those of you who wondered what game was being played at the Nueva Condomina as we went home from Cabezo de Torres, Real Murcia were up against the Segunda leaders - Deportivo la Coruna. And Murcia ran out 1-0 winners in front of 7000 spectators.

CIUDAD DE CIEZA Cieza were due to play Montecasillas FC in the preferente league (the one above ours) but according to the federation web page for the preferente they are saying that Ciudad de Cieza have withdrawn from the league. If that is correct that makes two two teams in that league that have gone bust this season! You may remember our trips to Cieza, big town, big stadium, use to have good support (although they did stone our coach once) so how has this happened? Cieza do have another team, in the Tercera division, who are mid table so the fans do have another local team to get behind. The current stats of the Cieza team that have appeared to have folded aren't pretty reading though. 17 - CIUDAD DE CIEZA P 16 W 1 D 2 L 13 GF 11 GA 67 Points 5 This is what is posted on the federation web site. D.I.T.T.-REDMOVIL- MONTECASILLAS F.C. - CIUDAD DE CIEZA . Descansa. Equipo contrario retirado

"Over 500 fans accompany La Hoya to Albacete Lorca club exceeds all expectations and confirms that it has already filled six buses
Fans of Hoya Lorca have been proposed not to leave the team unsupported in the big game tomorrow. Starting at six p.m. La Hoya will play at Carlos Belmonte Stadium against Albacete. Albacete management have not yielded to Lorca requests and have kept the price of twelve euros for fans of Lorca, while locals pay seven, five and three euros respectively.
Lorca management, together with City Hall, had provided four buses to charter supporters to Manchega capital but forecasts have overflowed as they have completed a total of six buses which leave tomorrow at two thirty from the Sutullena station and fifteen minutes later stop at the gas station in La Hoya.
The manager responsible for the trip of fans, Moya Roque said yesterday that they plan to have a seventh bus if needed. In total, more than five hundred fans will travel from Lorca to Albacete where the division lead will be at stake." (Opinion de Murcia)

Half-time and it's Albacete 0-0 La Hoya
80 mins and Albacete go 1-0 up.
That's how it ends and Albacete go top on the same 69 points but with a win and a draw over La Hoya.

Oh dear....have the wheels come off?
Since then, Albacete have picked up 6 points from 2 games but La Hoya only 1!
And with the group champion having an infinitely easier route to promotion, it doesn't look good for la Hoya.
The good news is (although not for Steve) that FC Cartagena are up in the play-off places alongside La Hoya.
(The four group champions are drawn into two two-legged games. The two winners getting promotion to the Segunda. The losers join the position 2 to 4 teams in a multi-game playoff for a further two promotion places.)

Cartagena FC might, currently, be in the play off places but there is "trouble at the mill"
The players are revolting, but we all knew that already, as they have only been part paid for February and have had nothing since.
The coach is saying that the players need their wages to live, Cartagena FC are saying nothing at the moment, their normal ploy if previous seasons are to go by when at the end of the season they will 'discuss a settlement'
Hope it all goes "BANG"

Just to clarify, I was referring to FC Cartagena (2B Gp4), who notoriously got into a public slanging match with Mazarrón CF some years ago and play at the Estadio Cartagonova near the Eroski hypermarket.
Not to be confused with Cartagena FC (Tercera) who claim to be the ONLY historic football club in Cartagena and have since got on rather well with Mazarrón FC and supporters when we have visited them in the Gómez Meseguer stadium by the Carrefour hypermarket at the Parque Mediterraneo!
Spanish football is so confusing isn't it!
(Now to sort out Olimpico Totana y filiales!)

One other team to keep an eye on over the next three weeks is Real Murcia. Before losing to Barca 'B' today, they'd had a run of 4 wins and 3 draws which had propelled then into the promotion play-off places in the Segunda. And with the Barca 'B' team in the top 6 too (who can't get promoted) they must be in with a shout of bringing first division football to Murcia again.
EDIT:
With two games to play, the Segunda promotion race is getting interesting. With third place Las Palmas on 60 pts and NINTH place Sabadell on 58 pts it's all to play for. Real Murcia missed a chance to pull clear of the bunch by only drawing 1-1 at home against 13th placed Zaragoza and sit on 59 points.

Not a Murcian team, I know, but last year's 'troublemakers' (Orihuela) have so far delivered on their promise to fight back into 2B. Remember the national Federation dropped them to Tercera for failing the financial test.
They achieved third place at the end of the season and won their first play-off game 2-0.
EDIT:
...and drew 0-0 in the second leg, so are still in with a chance!
