The CD Bala Azul females, sole representative of the Region of Murcia, has been proclaimed champion of the Spanish Football Federation Cup women's beach football National contest held in Melilla. The Murcian team defeated Espiguera Féminas 17-2 in the first game, won the second match 7-0 to FP Huelva and yesterday it was victorias 5-1 to PIC Caceres, in the third meeting National. The CD Bala Azul played today Saturday 17, at 12.00, against Higicontrol melillense CD, his fourth and final duel and won 4-2. Thus, the team of Murcia will be the representative of the RFEF for official international competitions in club football championships beach. They may be the blue half of the town, but we've got no beach in the town centre! Well done ladies.

Meanwhile, the Bala Azul mens' team is competing as one of the Spanish representatives in the Euro Winners Cup competition in Nazaré, Portugal.
Two games and two wins see them top of their group.
The sole UK representation seems to be from Portsmouth. Unfortunately, they have two games and two losses.
There are 26 teams in 7 groups for the group stage, but I have no idea what happens next!

Bala Azul won their third game and topped their group in what was effectively a preliminary stage to the competition proper.
As one of the group winners, Bala Azul are now one of 36 teams in the competition proper.
But the format is still a complete mystery to me.......
And the ladies team will take to the beach on Tuesday (30th) in their first game - against Portsmouth ladies.

Bala Azul men win their first game in the competition proper.....7-0! . . . but lose their second game 0-4 . . . win their third game 3-1 and progress to the last 16. . . . where they come through 3-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw. The last eight now. . . . FC Delta of Saratov Russia next. Their nearest beach seems to be 1000km away!!! . . . it was fun while it lasted....Bala go out 3-6.

Bala Azul ladies lose their first game in the competition proper.....3-4 against Portsmouth Ladies! . . . but win their second 4-1 (it's only a 3-team group). They finish second behind Portsmouth. Will that be enough to get them in the last 8? . . . it did and they will play Melilla later today (Friday). . . . and the ladies go out too, losing 1-2.

It's Euro League (men) and Cup (women) weekend in Nazaré (Portugal) and several members of the Bala Azul teams are playing for Spain.
But the women's team won't be in the cup final, having lost 1-6 to ENGLAND! It will be England vs Switzerland in tomorrow's final.
Spain men have won one and drawn one so far in a four-team league. There seem to be five league stages through the year. I'm not sure what happens at the end!
