Torquay lose another manager

IT'S NON LEAGUE, I KNOW BUT WE MIGHT HAVE A FEW OF THEIR SUPPORTERS WATCHING.
Richard Hill has resigned as manager of National League side Eastleigh with immediate effect.
Assistant manager Chris Todd has been placed in charge of first-team affairs ahead of Saturday's league match away against Wrexham.
Hill leaves the club 11th in the league table, and without a win in five games, having reached the play-offs by finishing fourth last season.
In a statement, the club said it had "regrettably accepted his resignation".

TAXI FOR MR McCLAREN AGAIN? Failed with England. Failed in Germany Failed at Forest Failed at Derby Failing at Newcastle. When will owners wake up to this umbrella carrying clown beaten by Sheffield Wednesday RESERVES last night? He must have made a mint in payoffs when he fails but some chump of an owner will still employ him, why? This is what the BBC football site says:- Newcastle United fans are often accused of expecting too much. This is a nonsense as all they really want is a show of ambition - but what they should expect is their team to overcome what was effectively Sheffield Wednesday reserves. The reaction at St James' Park said it all as Newcastle United were dumped out of the Capital One Cup to continue Steve McClaren's wretched start in charge on Tyneside. McClaren was not an appointment to set pulses racing, especially after his failure to guide Derby County into the Championship play-offs despite strong backing, and needed a fast start. Instead they have slumped towards the foot of the Premier League without a win and been humiliated in the Capital One Cup. McClaren has had a phone installed in his technical area - he will soon be running of friends to phone on Tyneside if this carries on.

AS PREDICTED BY LES AT THE CD ALGAR GAME YESTERDAY
Dijkhuizen leaves Brentford
Marinus Dijkhuizen was appointed head coach at Brentford in June, a controversial decision given previous boss Mark Warburton was eased out of the door despite guiding the Bees to the play-offs last term.
Warburton had led the Bees to promotion from League One the previous season but was told in February he would not be retained at the end of the campaign.
A former striker, Dijkhuizen had previously been manager at Excelsior in the Netherlands, where his side finished 15th in the Dutch Eredivisie.
Former Everton and Republic of Ireland midfielder Lee Carsley has been placed in charge until the end of the season.

BUSY DAY AT THE FAIRGROUND
Dave Bowman will take temporary charge of the Dundee United first team while the Premiership club begins the process of appointing a new manager.
Bowman, a former player and current assistant manager of the development squad and he will be assisted as caretaker by the club captain, Sean Dillon.
Jackie McNamara was relieved of his duties as manager following Saturday's 2-1 defeat at St Johnstone.
AND
Even the Rotherham United statement admits this is surprising news. Steve Evans often boasted a fantastic working relationship with chairman Tony Stewart and recently stated he’d been told he had a job for life.
Persistent rumours linking Evans with the Peterborough job could be behind this parting of ways. Either way, it’s a stunning day for Rotherham fans and the Scot will be a tough act to follow.
The former Leeds manager Neil Redfearn attended the Millers’ recent 2-1 victory over Cardiff City and he’s one of the favourites to take over at the New York Stadium.
AND
Torquay United have appointed Kevin Nicholson as their new player-manager.
The 34-year-old spent seven years as a left-back at Plainmoor, making 312 appearances and scoring 13 goals. He replaces Paul Cox, who resigned from the role earlier this month because of the financial pressures at Torquay.
"I can see the huge amount of potential here," Nicholson told BBC Sport. "They're a fantastic set of young lads, they're keen, eager, full of ability and I think I can help."
Nicholson played for the Gulls between 2007 and 2014 and helped them win promotion from the Conference Premier in 2009 before being part of the side which made the 2011 League Two play-off final.
He was also part of the Torquay squad which made the 2012 League Two play-off semi-finals and was named in the PFA's League Two team of the season that year.
"As a player all my best memories are at this club," added Nicholson.
"All the best things that have happened to me have happened here. I've seen it when we've been flying and we've averaged 3,000 fans and I've seen people walking away from the ground with smiles on their faces.
"I've had my plan and my application ready for years and years.
