FINAL SCORE
and a great away win
LORCA C.F.B. 0 v MAZARRON F.C. 1
Mazarron FC goal scored by Fran or to give him his full name Francisco Javier GARCIA ADAMS.
And to make the day better top side Santa Ana only drew at home so we go (according to the federation site) joint top with a game in hand which is being played on Wednesday.
This game in hand is the one where the Torre Pacheco player suffered a heart attack after 20 minutes with Mazarron FC 0-1 up.

Wednesday 23rd March
FINAL SCORE (on the night)
Torre Pacheco 1 Mazarron FC 0
FINAL SCORE (including previous abandoned game)
Torre Pacheco 1 Mazarron FC 1
Mazarrom FC go top of the league despite, in my opinion, the poorest performance of the season.
How Mazarron only came away with a 1-0 loss was amazing as, although they had three shots on target, Mazarron were played off the park. Always second to the ball and when they gained possession they managed to give it away. It was only very poor finishing by the home side strikers that saved Mazarron from a sound beating.
The first half, which was only 25 minutes long, finished 0-0 with Mazarron happy to defend in depth soaking up attack after attack.
The second half followed the same pattern but it was inevertable that Torre Pacheco would score and it came halfway through the second half from a right wing cross which found an unmarked strike who, with a bullet header, scored.
Mazarron hung on for the final whistle with the home side missing numerous chance.
Mazarron FC may have gone top but if their performances don't improve they won't be there for long.

Jose has sent me a message about last nights performance and some reasons why we were on the back foot for almost the entire game, he writes:-
you are right but the torrepacheco had 5 players playing who had been brought in from the next higher classification of juveniles and one, the number 8 is international for Spain U16 and their goalkeeper plays for the Romania U18 team. So we were not successful.
Steven had to work at the grocery store costo. (Steven is a brilliant right winger, who's runs were sorely missed last night, he has previously played for the Mazarron senior side)
As well as our league Torre Pacheco have a team in the LIGA NACIONAL JUVENIL and utilised players from that side to reinforce the team we played last night, a bit underhand if you ask me.

NEXT GAME
MAZARRON FC v MAR MENOR CF
6pm Saturday 9th April 2016
With just 8 games to go top of the table Mazarron FC take on one of their closes rivals next in the shape of 3rd placed Mar Menor CF with, according to my calculations, 10 points between the sides.
The two sides come to this game with different out comes to their last scheduled matches where as Mazarron had a tight 0-1 away win at Lorca, Mar Menor were losing 0-1 at home to their nearest rival A.D. Vistalegre Murcia. That loss closed the gap between those two sides to just one point so Mar Menor will be desperate for a result at our place.
Mazarron met Mar Menor last November when we came home with all three points following a 0-2 win. A repeat of that result would help to consolidate Mazarrons promotion aspersions.

UPP's
FINAL SCORE
MAZARRON FC 1 MAR MENOR 2
Mazarron FC goal scored by Steven
If this game consisted of the first 10 minutes and the last 10 minutes Mazarron FC would have walked it but it doesn't so they didn't.
Mar Menor played a slick passing game always looking to get their extremely fast forwards behind the home defence.
After that initial 10 minutes Mar Menor took control scoring their first from a corner and the second from a delicate lob over the static home defence with a visiting forward bursting through and crashing the ball past Mazarrons isolated goalkeeper.
Mar Menor seemed first to every loose ball and any loose pass fell to a visiting player.
With 10 minutes to go and following a dead ball situation Steven crashed through the Mar Menor defence and scored with a bullet header.
Mazarron then laid seige to the Mar Menor goal and saw a ball cleared of the line with the keeper beaten, shots went everywhere but the right place and despite 5 minutes extra time, granted mainly for our guests time wasting antics, the home side couldn't find the leveller.
This result bring the gap between the teams down to just 7 points so promotion should not be taken as granted for Mazarron.

NEXT GAME
ONLY 7 GAMES TO GO
Saturday 16th or Sunday 17th April 2016
EFB PINATAR v MAZARRÓN FC
Following last weekends reversal Mazarron FC slip to second place now two points behind league leaders Santa Ana with that home game taking place on the 8th of May, pencil that date in your diary.
But it's back to work following last weekends defeat and an away game against Pinatar could be the right fixture at the right time.
The sides met last November with the result being a home win for Mazarron FC and a repeat of that result would be nice.

With the first team at home against Bullense that weekend - probably played on Sunday 8th - I guess the Juveniles game against Santa Ana will likely be Saturday 7th.

NEXT GAME (6 games to go)
Saturday 23rd or Sunday 24th April 2016 MAZARRÓN FC v NUEVA CARTAGENA FC
Following two consecutive defeats our boys return home intending to stop the rot. These two losses have seen Mazarron being knocked off the top spot and are now 5 points behind league leaders Santa Ana. Remember that the top two teams are promoted at the end of the season and Mazarron are currently 9 points clear of the third placed side.
Mazarron FC travelled to Nueva Cartagena last November and came away with a 2-3 win following a very tight game. A similar result is needed again.
Make no bones about this game, Mazarron need to get back to winning ways if they are to rise through the juvenile leagues.

FINAL SCORE
MAZARRÓN FC 2 v NUEVA CARTAGENA FC 2
This was one of the best football games I've seen in a while with Mazarron FC probing the Cartagena defence whilst the visitors relied on counter attacking on the break.
Mazarron controlled the first 45 minutes but it was Cartagena who had the best two chances with Pablo in the home goal pulling off two great saves.
How Mazarron didn't go into the dressing room in the lead I don't know but as the half time whistle blow both sides when for their cup of tea with the score at 0-0.
The second half followed the same pattern until Mazarron were awarded a free kick in the 62 minute and up steps Eric, now named Baldrick, as he had a cunning plan. He floated the ball to second half substitute Steven on the right who delivered a beautiful pass to David in front of the goal who nodded it home.
1-0
For the next 20 minutes Mazarron went into cruise control with Cartagena showing little in the way of goal threat...... when........ a ball was cleared out of defence by the visitors following another assault on their goal. As the ball descended with Pablo, the Mazarron keeper, and another defender in control the ball took a wicked bounce and Pablo could only partially clear it but straight to a Cartagena forward following up. With Mazarrons two defenders now out of place the ball went sideways to an onrushing visiting forward who placed it into an empty net. This was completely against the run of play. And with 20 minutes to go it was not deserved.
1-1
Two minutes later things went from bad to worse when, after a Mazarron attack broke down the ball was launched high and long by the Cartagena keeper and as it came down it was struck on the full volley by a visiting striker to score one of the best goals that I have seen for a long time.
1-2
Mazarron went full tilt for the equaliser and with one minute left it was Eric delivering a free kick across the Cartagena goal mouth which saw Steven score the equaliser.
2-2
There were 4 minutes of extra time during which Andreo had a golden opportunity to give the score line a true reflection of the game but from in front of the goal just a couple of meters out he scooped the ball over the bar. What a pity.
A game dominated by Mazarron but ending with the points shared. Such a pity as the league leader lost today.

NEXT GAME
Scheduled for Saturday 30th April or Sunday 1st May 2016 (KO: tbc)
OLIMPICO DE TOTANA v MAZARRÓN FC
So, just 5 games to go, 15 available points on offer, our lads are just 4 points off Santa Ana who are top of the table but they have stuttered recently just like Mazarron have. Mazarron FB are just 5 points clear of the two remaining sides that can catch them and the gap keeps closing.
Off those 5 games 4 are against teams who are mainly at the bottom of the league less for two, Roldan, who are currently 7th and in two weeks time against league leaders Santa Ana.
So doing the maths I reckon that at least 10 points are available from those 5 games if not better and that should see the boys home and promoted.
Back to the Totana game the two sides met in Mazarron last December and that game ended as a close 2-1 win for our boys. Same again please.
