THE STORY OF A ONE SIDED GAME WITH A VERY STRANGE ENDING.
This crucial game was a tale of 3/4 of the game played in an normal atmosphere and a strange last 15 minutes.
The first half of the game was completely and absolutely controlled by Mazarron FC and besides one long range shot which the home keeper tipped over the bar it was Mazrron FC all the way. For long periods of time the only player in the Mazarron half was the home goal keeper.
It wasn't until the ninth minute that Sangonera actually got into the Mazarron half such was the the home sides domination of this fixture and it was only down to some poor finishing and some remarkable goal keeping that Mazarron didn't run up a basketball score by half time.
But as it was we had to settle for a goal from Juama who converted a flick on from midfield to at last beat the visiting keeper and the same player unselfishly laid on a pin point cross to Chema after doing all the hard work out on the left wing to enable Chema to score into an empty net.
Half time Mazarron FC 2 Sangonera 0
The visitors came out in the second half more determined to make a fist of it and to be honest came back into a game which they had lost control of in the first 45 minutes.
Perico, who created many of Mazarron's chances in the first half from his defensive midfield role became the destroyer of attacks in the second half and was everywhere. But it wasn't a player who changed course of the game, it was the lone match official.
For some inexplicable reason and with 15 minutes to go he seemed to change. Out came the yellow cards booking players, mainly Mazarron players, for any infringement.
An example was when the number 19 was through on goal with only the keeper to beat. He dummied the goal minder who went to ground and as the Mazarron forward rounded him the keeper pulled the legs away away from the attacker. A penalty and a red card for the keeper? No, a yellow card for the Mazarron player for diving?
?
Every and I mean every decision then went Sangonera's way and it was from one of these free kicks that they pulled a goal back through a scramble in the Mazarron goal mouth.
2-1
It took an individual piece of brilliance by Jose, the juveniles main striker, who took on the Sangonera defence and slipped the ball passed the stranded goal minder.
3-1
Then as a finale the ref took centre stage again. He had just indicated 4 minutes of extra time when from yet another free kick the ball was floated into the Mazarron box which was easily collected by the Mazarron keeper.
As he did so he was kicked into the air by a Sangonera player, a foul was given but of course no card. As the keeper received treatment the ref
SENT OFF Perico, a straight red card, why? did he say something? The ref indicated a raised arm. but to whom? There wasn't anyone near him?
All that we know is that one of the most influential Mazarron players will be missing from that vital final game against the league leaders.
The final whistle went, we won 3-1, the ref needed Jose the club president, to protect him as he went down the tunnel.
Referee, you were a disgrace and almost spoilt a good game. You should be reported.
